由中国有色金属学会、中南大学、北京矿冶研究总院、郑州大学联合主办,主题定为“资源、环境及经济可持续发展中的矿物加工科学与技术““2017中国矿物加工大会”将于9月22-24日湖南省长沙市召开。

论文征集的闸门一打开,大家的积极性前所未有的高。由于近期论文提交太火爆,所以特将论文摘要截止时间由6月30日延迟至7月10日8月20日论文提交截止。

Barry's career in mineral processing began in 1969, when he left Leeds University to work for 4-years in Zambia with Nchanga Consolidated Copper Mines Ltd. On his return to the UK, he worked for a year as a senior development engineer with Johnson Matthey Ltd, before taking up the post of Senior Lecturer at the Camborne School of Mines in Cornwall, where he was actively involved in the squash and cricket teams, as well as diving on some of the many shipwrecks around the Cornish coast. During his time at Camborne he found time to write the text-book Mineral Processing Technology, and in 1988 founded the Minerals Engineering journal. Barry left CSM in 1996 to concentrate on the organisation of MEI Conferences, and to establish MEI.


In 2014 he was the recipient of the International Mineral Processing Council's Distinguished Service Award, and in 2017 with the IOM3 Medal for Excellence.

S. Komar Kawatra joined the faculty at Michigan Tech as an associate professor in 1977. He was promoted to Professor in 1985 and chaired the Department of Mining and Materials Processing Engineering from 2000-2002 when its programs were merged into other academic departments. He has served as chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering since 2007. His research is chemical engineering specializing in: instrumentation and on-line analysis for monitoring and control of chemical and particulate process plants; and treatment/remediation of chemical and industrial wastes. Recipient of 2000 Robert H. Richards Award from the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, the Taggart Award from the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration, and the 2002 Frank F. Aplan Award from the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers. Kawatra serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Minerals & Metallurgical Processing Journal and the Mineral Processing & Extractive Metallurgy Review Journal. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Explorations (SME) and was Chair of the Mineral Processing Division of SME. He is also the director of the Michigan Tech Advanced Sustainable Iron & Steel Making Center (ASISC).

Major research activity is in the area of Applied Surface Science relevent to Mineral Processing Technology. Including:i) physico-chemical processing and recovering of valuable minerals from ores, lean ores and waste materials, ii) theoretical thermodynamic equilibrium calculation of chemical species involving solid, liquid and gaseous phases, iii) mineral-reagent interactions based on wet chemistry methods and advanced in-situand ex-situ FTIR and XPS techniques, iv) mineral-microbe/biomolecule interactions concerned with minerals bioprocessing, v) molecular modelling of inorganic/organic interfaces with the aim of designing mineral specific reagents in flotaion; vi) dry processing methods for industrial minerals and coal preparation. Other works include flotation kinetics, fine particle processing, mineral fillers in polymer composites and use of blast furnace slag in ordinary portland cement. Before joining NTNU on 1 September 2014, He worked at the Division of Mineral Processing of Luleå University of Technology (LTU) in Luleå, Sweden, from 1985 to 2014 and since 2003 as a Professor of Mineral Processing.

Professor Anh Nguyen is the BMA (BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance) Chair within the School of Chemical Engineering. He previously held academic positions at the University of Newcastle (Australia), the University of Utah (USA) and the Technical University of Kosice (Czechoslovakia). He was awarded an ARC (Australian Research Council) Queen Elizabeth II Fellowship and an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (Germany). His relevant publications include a research book on the colloidal science of flotation, 3 edited volumes, 16 book chapters (invited) and over 175 papers in refereed journals. He has editorial role on Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, and International Journal of Mineral Processing. He is an Elected Fellow of IChemE and AusIMM.

 

His research interests embrace various aspects of colloid and interfacial science and engineering. The focus of his current research is on colloid and interface science of particles, bubbles and drops in surfactant solutions and saline water. The ultimate applications include coal and minerals processing, saline water usage and treatment, foliar fertilisers, smart self-cleaning materials, hydrophobic hydration and hydrates of natural gas, and particle separation. His research funding has come from industry partners (BMA, BHP Billiton, Xstrata, Rio Tinto, OneSteel, Agrichem) and agencies (ARC and ACARP). He is the Leader of the Mineral Processing and Interfacial Processes group.

His work focuses on the investigation of multiphase flow in industrial processes, combining experimental work and numerical modelling as a tool for equipment evaluation and design. In mineral processing, his research on froth flotation includes the modelling of complex phenomena in the pulp and froth zones (using Fluidity) and the use of experimental techniques to characterise these systems. He has also led optimisation testwork at flotation plants worldwide to enhance metallurgical recovery. Froth flotation was the focus of one of the projects within the Rio Tinto Centre for Advanced Mineral Recovery and the study of two-phase foams and three-phase mineralised froths continues to be a key component of his research. He is interested in developing modelling tools for assessing the impact of metallurgical variability on mineral processing. This topic is part of a new Horizon 2020 project, in which mineral processing flowsheets will be developed with an emphasis on low impact solutions with regards to water, energy and environmental impact.

 

He is a work package leader in PRODIAS ('Processing Diluted Aqueous Systems'), a €10 million project funded by the European Union with the aim of fostering competiveness of the European process industry.  The project focuses on unlocking the potential of renewable based products made via industrial biotechnology by significantly decreasing production costs, increasing productivity and efficiency, lowering energy consumption, and accelerating process developments.

Beena Rai

Dr. Beena Rai is a Principal Scientist and Head of Physical Science Research at TCS, Tata Research Development & Design Center (TRDDC) based at Pune. After completing Ph. D from India's premier research institution - National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, Dr. Rai joined Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tata Research Development and Design Centre (TRDDC), Pune, two decades ago. At TCS, she is currently heading Physical Sciences Research Area, one of the eight research areas in TCS ResearchTM. Her research focuses on the Computational Material Science especially molecular modeling based design and development of materials and chemicals for various industrial applications such as mineral processing, ceramics, paints & coatings, cements, lubricants, agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Her research interests include molecular modeling, metals and minerals, polymers, nanotechnology, biological systems such as human skin and bio-sensors.

 

Dr. Beena Rai has published close to 100 research papers in reputed journals and conferences. She has 22 patent/patent applications to her credit. Beena is a recipient of prestigious Chevening Scholarship at Said Business School, University of Oxford, UK. She has been a visiting scientist at LEM, INPL-CNRS, Nancy, France. She has received several recognition and awards, to name a few: Indian Institute of Minerals (IIME) Mineral Beneficiation Award 2016, Vasvik Research Award in Materials and Metallurgical Sciences and Technology for Women Scientist, Materials Research Society of India Medal, SAIL Gold Medal, TCS-Exemplary Service Award, Maha-Intrapreneur Award instituted by Praj Industries and Symbiosis International Institute of Business Pune, India and WILL Best Mentee Award given by WILL-Women in Leadership Forum, India.
